Same-day weddings are completely legal and practical in Las Vegas. Nevada has no waiting period, so you can get your license in the morning and be married by afternoon. Here is the full rundown.
Why same-day weddings work in Las Vegas
Nevada law requires no waiting period between getting your marriage license and having a ceremony. You apply for the license, walk out with it in hand, head to a chapel and say your vows — all in the same day. This makes Las Vegas unique: most U.S. states have at least a 24-hour wait.
There is also no blood test required, and you do not need to be a Nevada resident or U.S. citizen. The only real prerequisite is that both parties appear in person with valid photo ID.
Step 1: Get your marriage license first
The Clark County Marriage License Bureau is at 201 E Clark Ave in downtown Las Vegas. Both people must show up together with valid, government-issued photo ID. The fee is about $102. The bureau is open daily with extended hours — check current operating hours before you go. The license is valid immediately and good for one year.

Step 2: Choose a chapel that accepts walk-ins
Many of the most famous Las Vegas chapels welcome walk-ins and same-day bookings: A Little White Wedding Chapel, Chapel of the Flowers, Graceland Wedding Chapel, The Little Vegas Chapel and Vegas Weddings all operate this way. A quick call before you arrive confirms availability for your preferred time slot.
Weekdays, especially mornings, are the easiest time to walk in without a reservation. Weekend evenings in peak months (February, May and October) can have waits, so calling ahead is worth it.
What to bring on the day
- Your signed Clark County marriage license.
- Valid government-issued photo ID for both partners.
- Payment — most chapels accept credit cards, but have cash for tip and the license fee.
- Any personal items you want: rings, a specific reading, a playlist for the music.
- Witnesses, if your package does not include them (or the chapel provides them).
Photography on a same-day wedding
You do not have to sacrifice good photos just because the timeline is spontaneous. Many chapels include basic ceremony photography in their packages. If you want portraits beyond the ceremony room — in downtown Las Vegas at night, along the Strip or in the neon glow — book a photographer in advance even when the rest of the day is same-day. See our elopement photography page and check our chapel guide for venues we love to photograph.
