How to Get Married Same-Day in Las Vegas

How to Get Married Same-Day in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the only places in the world where you can wake up, get a marriage license, and be legally married before dinner. Here is the step-by-step reality.

No Waiting Period: How Las Vegas Marriage Licenses Actually Work

Nevada law requires no waiting period between obtaining a marriage license and having your ceremony. The moment you walk out of the Clark County Marriage License Bureau with your license in hand, you can legally marry — same day, same hour if you want. There is also no blood test required, and you do not need to be a Nevada resident or a U.S. citizen.

The license is valid for one year from the date of issue, and the ceremony must take place in the state of Nevada. That is the full requirement list. No courthouse appointment, no advance scheduling on the government side — just show up.

Step 1: Get Your Marriage License at 201 E Clark Ave

The Clark County Marriage License Bureau is at 201 E Clark Avenue in downtown Las Vegas. Both people getting married must appear in person. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID — a current passport or driver's license works. The fee is approximately $102 (cash or card; confirm current fee at the bureau since it adjusts periodically).

The bureau is open seven days a week including holidays. Hours are typically 8 AM to midnight, which means same-day licenses are possible even for late-evening weddings. The process takes 15–30 minutes on a normal day; Friday and Saturday evenings can be busier, so go early if possible.

Step 2: Book a Ceremony — Same Day Options

Las Vegas has more same-day ceremony options than anywhere else on earth. Here are the main paths:

  • Office of Civil Marriages: Located inside the Regional Justice Center at 200 Lewis Ave, the Office of Civil Marriages performs civil ceremonies for approximately $80. Walk-ins are accepted when space is available, though calling ahead is wise on busy weekend evenings.
  • Wedding chapels: A Little White Wedding Chapel, Graceland Wedding Chapel, Chapel of the Bells, and others routinely accommodate same-day bookings, especially on weekdays. Call as soon as you have your license — or call before to hold a slot while you get the license.
  • Hotel ceremonies: Properties like Paris Las Vegas, The Venetian, and Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas offer ceremony packages that can sometimes be arranged same-day with advance notice, though these book up fast on weekends.

What You Need Beyond the License

Legally, the only other requirement is an officiant authorized to perform marriages in Nevada. Chapels provide their own officiants. For civil ceremonies at the Office of Civil Marriages, the officiant is a county employee. If you want a friend to officiate, they must be legally ordained — many couples use online ordination services that are recognized in Nevada.

You will also need at least one witness present at the ceremony. Most chapels provide a witness if you need one. If you are eloping with no guests, just ask the chapel in advance.

Adding Photography to a Same-Day Wedding

Same-day weddings do not have to mean no photos. Our elopement photography packages are built exactly for this scenario — flexible scheduling, quick turnaround, and locations we know can be accessed without permits or advance setup. The Strip, downtown Las Vegas, the Neon Boneyard (exterior), and several hotel lobbies and rooftop bars all work beautifully with 24–48 hours' notice or less.

If you know even a day or two in advance, we can plan a short portrait session at a more dramatic location. But even truly spontaneous — "we got the license an hour ago" — we can often make something work. The best approach is to contact us as soon as you know your date and ceremony time.

Same-Day Marriage vs. Elopement: Is There a Difference?

Legally, no. Both result in the same valid Nevada marriage certificate. The difference is just in how couples think about the day. A same-day civil ceremony is often the most stripped-down version — license, ceremony, done. An elopement typically means a small intentional celebration: a ceremony, photos, maybe a dinner reservation at a restaurant with a view of the Strip. Las Vegas supports every version of this, and a local photographer who knows the city well can help you create a real memory even with zero advance planning.
